Masquerade is a sleek black witch's cat. But she wasn't always a cat. Once she was a little girl. But when she woke in the hospital, alone and with no memory of who she was or why she was there, she left and lived on the streets. No one bothered looking for her - or at least finding her. Then she found an abandoned cottage on a stormy day. Exhausted and starving she went in and ate some stew. When she woke up, things had changed a lot. She was a cat. But she decided it really wasn't all that bad. EXCEPT for flying and swimming and going into outer space and riding on the witch's pet dragon over volcanoes so she could get ingredients for her potions and into the rainforest full of creepy crawlies. Masquerade is a Scaredy Cat because she is full of phobias! How will she get over her fears of everything? Will she have to hide so Windy won't take her on any more trips?


Masquerade also has a pet-friend. He's a mouse named Snort. When they met she was about to eat him but he sneezed. She thought he had introduced himself as "Snort" so she introduced herself. But then she couldn't eat him - he was a friend! So Snort helps Masquerade with her housework and she gives him food for his family.

Marcy Mouse has lost the tip of her tail and no longer feels like all of the other Mouse girls attending the Mousekin Ball this year. She was so looking forward to finding a boyfriend and attending the ball. Now this has happened! But wait, there's more. She is befriended by proper English-speaking cat who wants to protect her. The only problem is . . . she can't see him. Is he a ghost? She's about to escape through the mouse-hole when a huge hand scoops her up and she is thrown into a glass jar. What could possibly happen next?
