Started work last night (10/6/10) on Laman Book 3 of The Startdust Warriors. Already have it mostly written. It's about 13-year-old Laman Beleu who wakes on a strange beach on a strange planet with a strange talking bird on his shoulder. The last thing he remembers is being struck by lightning the night before as he strolled along in the surf behind his house. After another argument with his mom he'd gone for a walk. Now she's gone, or he is, and he can't get back home to say he's sorry until he completes a year-long quest on this new planet full of dangers, monsters and demons. He meets up with an 8-year-old kid who says a glowing man told him to leave home and travel with Laman, but all he does is whine and complain. Then he discovers he can start fires just by thinking about them. But Laman can do him one better. He pulls lightning from the sky.
